Frill Free Zone Newsletter January 15, 2025 |
For homesteaders, this is the hardest time of the year to stay motivated. It's much more fun to cuddle up to the fire with a good book and a cup of tea. January 15 2025My puppy, Ash, is 8 months old now - how time flies. He's a good boy, he'll be awesome as a grown dog. He's friendly (almost too much, to dogs and kids) and very easy to train. He picks up quickly, both the good and the bad. He is very soft mouthed, and prefers toys made of fabric or kevlar, rather than harder toys made of nylon. It's a process, figuring out what his highest value toys and treats are. For now, I use the oven set at its lowest heat setting to dehydrate treats for him, but if it gets necessary I'll buy a dehydrator. In other news, I've been thinking of what plants to grow from seed this year. My growing set-up will allow me to produce a lot of seedlings, but then there is nowhere to put them. Seeding a lot of seeds but then allowing them all to get spindly due to lack of light is false economy. I'll hold off for another few weeks so I don't have that problem. It's hard to resist when you see what's on offer in all the Canadian seed catalogues that show up in the mail box. Choose carefully, it's easy to over order and get overwhelmed.
