We're in the midst of summer now, and with luck you'll be harvesting some of your vegetables, and your baskets and window boxes will be looking supreme. July 1 2026If there are problems with the flowers in your garden, especially those in planters and containers, you may be wondering what to do. The first thing to try is the Chelsea Chop, where you cut off the top of any growth that is falling over. Or, just cut off a few of the longer pieces, and the whole thing will bush out more.There are many ways to prune your plants, sometimes keeping it simple works the best, and just keep a pair of scissors handy. I usually find that hanging baskets in particular might start to look tired, so it is a good thing to redo your hanging baskets and give them a whole new life so they'll last through the fall, continuing to bring you pleasure. So you have a favorite way to compost? There are so many options, but mine is to use the
stacking composting system
that I came across in my research for something else, isn't that always the way?
