This is the time of year for snuggling up to the fire and doing some planning for the spring to come. Can't come soon enough for me!

On a homestead, there are a lot of ways to waste your time. Finding out that you didn't need to spend hours and hours reinventing the wheel can be disheartening, but not to worry. All the time you've spent is not wasted. Some things have to be experienced first hand to really sink in.

Here are some ways to make money homesteading that you might be interested in learning more about. Some are out-of-the-box, such as growing willows to sell as cuttings, or make into your own baskets to sell. Or put on a basket making retreat, if you have places to accommodate visitors.

Other ways to fund your homesteading journey might require a financial investment, so make sure the project is something you really want to do and spend time on.

I built greenhouses wherever I went, and made money growing plants, but you could just as easily use it as a teaching facility, the light transmitted through Bobs Super Strong Plastic, for instance, is really nice to work in.

Keep an open mind, you never know when inspiration for just the right thing for your homestead will strike. It might be starting a pottery studio, to sell gorgeous custom urns or planters. Maybe a dog training school, or a boarding facility. Whatever it is, specialize. The customers will come!
